University of Minnesota Medical Center surgeons have performed more than 650 lung and heart-lung transplants in children and adults since 1986. Ours is one of the largest and most successful lung transplant programs in the United States. The survival rate for our lung transplant patients is significantly higher than the national average.

University of Minnesota Physicians are leaders in using lung transplantation to reduce the impact of cystic fibrosis and other advanced lung diseases. Our physicians also pioneered many surgical and medical innovations in lung and heart/lung transplantation.

We provide exceptional care for patients who are waiting for transplants and newly transplanted recipients. In addition, our staff and the physicians provide lifetime supervision of transplant-related problems in our patients.
