Volunteer programs are designed for one simple but very important purpose: to serve patients and their families. Fairview volunteers touch the lives of patients in many ways, and a variety of opportunities are available throughout University of Minnesota Medical Center and University of Minnesota Amplatz Children's Hospital. Getting Started
Every prospective volunteer must complete the following application process. 

1. Print and complete the application form
2. Attend a new volunteer orientation session.
3. Complete a health assessment with Employee Occupational Health Services.
4. Pass a criminal background check.
5. Provide two personal references.
6. Complete a one-on-one interview with a volunteer coordinator.

Time Commitment
Volunteers work four hours weekly for six months (minimum). Summer-only volunteers work 75 hours during June, July and August.

Junior Volunteer Program
This program is a summer session for high school students age 15 or older. Information about the summer 2009 program will be available in March 2009.
