Becoming a Liver Transplant Patient
at University of Minnesota
Amplatz Children's Hospital
The Pediatric Liver Transplant Program at the University of Minnesota Amplatz Children's Hospital offers a comprehensive, interdisciplinary approach to care for children and teens receiving a liver transplant. Having a physician refer your child to our program will speed the referral process. However, parents interested in our program may also contact us directly. When you or your child's physician call us, our staff will:
- Coordinate communication between you, your child's physician, the liver transplant health care team and other hospital departments.
- Work with the hospital's financial services representatives and your insurance company to help you secure insurance coverage for your child's treatment.
- Communicate with you and your child's physician about your child's medical condition and possible dates for evaluation and admission.
- Discuss with you how to identify and select potential donors for transplant.
Staff members from the Liver Transplant Program are ready to help you and your family at each stage of the liver transplant process. You can contact the Liver Transplant Program at 800-328-5465.
