Four years ago, Chris Klien donated a kidney to a stranger through the University of Minnesota Medical Center's non-directed donor program. On April 30, the donor and recipient met for the first time at an event to honor living donors. The recipient gave his donor a lucky coin as a thank you. 2009 marks the tenth year of non-directed donation at University of Minnesota Medical Center. Through the end of April 2009, 50 people had donated a kidney to a stranger through the non-directed donor program.
